The Provincial Secretaries of Irrigation, Agriculture, Livestock as well as senior officers of PAMPCO were also present on the occasion. He said that the pumps would be operated through solar energy and would provide abundant water for irrigation purposes free of cost resulting increase in agri-production.

Copper thieves targeting heat pumps

From WVVA.com: As the theft of expensive copper wire becomes more common across the region, thieves are finding new targets. The latest trend: heat pumps.Residents and business owners in the Mercer County town of Montcalm are on watch after heat pumps at places such as the volunteer fire department, post office and a doctor's office have been hit.

Some thieves have stolen entire condenser units, while others have just gutted the devices for the copper. State Police say they're not sure how many people are involved in the Montcalm area thefts. If you see anything suspicious you are urged to call authorities.

New study from Alaska: Heat pumps marginally viable in Fairbanks area Read more: Fairbanks Daily News-Miner

From Fairbanks Daily News-Miner: The first detailed analysis of ground-source heat pumps in Alaska has determined the technology is a cost-effective heating option in some parts of the state but only marginally advantageous in the Fairbanks area.

Ground-source heat pumps are fairly common in parts of the Lower 48, but they’ve been viewed skeptically as a viable option in the cold soils of Alaska.
